I was debating about whether I would shop the Canadian Black Friday deals today. I started "shopping" last night for the best deals, by sleuthing online and comparison shopping.
This morning, I began with some online shopping, and realized that I was "late" to the game, and that the sizes and selection online was limited, due to all those bargain hunters whom started shopping at 12:01 am, Eastern time. I began shopping at 9am Pacific time, after my breakfast. Yep, I was definitely late to the game.
I quit my online shoppping (made no purchases) and decided to head to the mall. I'm glad I did, because shopping in-store is just so much easier than shopping online. I went to Children's Place, and Old Navy. Old Navy had the best deals. 50% off everything. If you are reading this now, and want to do some shopping, log-off your computer and run to Old Navy. The deals are worth it! I bought a few things that I normally would have overlooked, due to the price, but when it's 50% off, it's worth the purchase!
In any case, it is now 4pm Pacific time. There are still several hours left for shopping (in-store). I have not ruled out some post-dinner shopping for tonight. I've forgotten that I should have picked up toddler shoes this afternoon. That's what I get for shopping without a list!

Weekend Re-Cap
Friday Night.
Both, Twin and I came up empty-handed during our sister-shopping trip. But we had fun, and we both had a night out away from the kiddos.
Saturday.
I took Little B with me to the mall, to run some errands, and to shop again, with the hopes of finding a dress for a daytime wedding, and purchasing a few t-shirts for Little B. Errands were completed, and shopping trip was a success.
Thanks to Sears Days, and a lot of patience from myself, and some coaxing and bribery for Little B, I walked out of the store with two dresses costing me just under $101 (taxes included). I also purchased two long-sleeved t-shirts for B at Old Navy at sale prices. Yay!
Sunday.
Both kids are sick, running fevers, and have very little appetite. It's 3pm and I'm still in my pajamas, and not because I'm too lazy to get out of them, it's because I've been busy taking care of a sick toddler and baby. Today is just one of those awful busy days where I just feel lucky to be able to scarf down some instant noodles at 1pm for lunch. Luckily, Husband is here to help out too, but unfortunately he's been running around doing errands today, and has had barely any time to himself at all, too. Our main concern, though, is that the kids stay hydrated and rested, and comfortable.
It's been a very busy weekend!

Solo Time
If I didn't have any solo time, I'd go nuts - some time to mentally (or physically) to unwind. However, the time I have to physically have alone time is very limited. Leaving the house to the kids and husband, is, at most times, not an option. Therefore, my alone times involve catching a few moments behind a locked door, hiding in a closet (and yes I've done this a few times), and many times just focusing on the computer screen while Little B is fixated on an activity and Baby N is napping.
Wait... Hiding in a closet??? Yes, I have a tendency to hide in the closet. I don't do this often, but I do it when I can't catch any breaks, and when I'm about to break, and only for 2 or 3 minutes at the most. Little B always finds me anyway. When we are all at home, Little B is my sidekick - my constant sidekick. When I'm not in sight, she comes looking for me. Mom, where are you? Are you here? Are you here Mommy? I can't find you! Where are you? Are you here? No?? Are you here?? Where are you Mommy?? Moooommy?!!! And moments later. Moooommmy!! I FOUND YOU!!!! And then... Can I hide now Mommy? You see? It's a fun game for Little B, and a bit of a reprieve for me. Hide and seek with a toddler is actually fun. All hiding spots, no matter how obvious are funny places, to Little B. I could be a giant lump under a blanket, and Little B would be giggling away at my hiding spot. The closet is the best though, because for some reason, it's usually the last place she checks.
In any case, this week, we didn't play Hide and Seek. This week I actually got some REAL Solo-Time! I was sooo happy and grateful to the Husband.
The first solo time of the week was the library. Earlier this week I visited the library, on my own, in the evening. I didn't spend much time there, possibly only 15 minutes inside, but it was 15 minutes of quiet and full immersion into something else, other than my own children. The drive to and from the library added about another 15 minutes. That's 30 minutes of me-time. I really enjoyed it, and wished to stay in the library longer, only that would not be fair to Husband. I was only picking up a few books, and the kiddo's bedtimes were nearing.
My second solo-time of the week was last night. I met a friend for tea/coffee at a Starbucks after the kids were in bed. I was out for about 1.5 hours, chit-chatting and catching up. I had a very nice time, socializing, outside of my family unit, and worried less about the kids at home (with the husband) since I knew that the kids were (or should have been) sound asleep. When I returned home, I did find, in fact, that the kids stayed asleep and did not wake while I was gone.
My next solo-time will be tonight. Shopping with my Twin. What are we looking for? Dresses for a daytime wedding. The most recent daytime dresses that I've worn, for weddings, were maternity dresses. I'm now back to my pre-pregnant weight, so I won't be able to wear my maternity dresses anymore. Time to shop, and time to update my wardrobe! We are also on the hunt for kiddie clothes, and whatever good deals we can find. I'm very excited. My Twin and I have not shopped together, without kids or husbands, in an extremely long time - for at least 3.5 years!! Yikes!! We CAN annoy each other though, so I hope that doesn't happen, and that we have a fun time shopping-sans-family!
That is a LOT of solo-time this week, and I am very grateful. Hubby gets solo-time too, though. He gets movie-nights, and Breaking Bad nights. Both of us are now getting to be a lot more comfortable, and being more relaxed about allowing each other more "me" time, since now Baby N is no longer a newborn, and is much easier to handle.

Garage Sale Lessons
Saturday morn, the family ventured to a community garage sale. Over 40 homes inside a trailer park community. We made a few good purchases, and several "fail" purchases.
First-off, I've never been inside a Trailer Park community. The one we went to is surprisingly nice, serene, neat, and tidy. This one, where we were at, had a creek babbling through it, and some shared flower garden space, racquet court, and playground. I learned about this multi-garage sale by reading our free community paper. Over 40 homes?? We are going!
We strapped the kids into their car-seats, and off we went! The first homes that we hit, were just outside the trailer park. Tables were set up with knick knacks, old electronics, purses, CD's, DVD's, etc.. Along side these sales was a food tent where we could purchase hotdogs, chips, and drinks. In front, stood somebody who was handing out maps. Maps?? Well, I suppose a multi-garage sale involving 40 homes would require a map. We parked the car, and hoofed it to almost all of the 40 homes, with Little B eventually proclaiming... "I'm boring!!!!" (a.k.a., I'm bored!!).
We may have spent almost two hours, if not more, there, and we made a few good purchases, and a few not-so-good purchases.
CDs, DVDs, books, and toddler/baby things are always on our list of things to look out for. We did well with most things, except for a computer game, and one DVD.
Let's just say that you should ALWAYS check the inside of the DVD case to make sure that there is an actual DVD inside... I purchased a 2 disc copy of The Incredibles, for $1. Inside, was only disc 2 containing bonus features. Disc 1 (the main feature) was missing. Sigh. At least it was only $1. And at least there are 2 short animated films on Disc 2. As for the computer game... well a copy of the computer game is no use if the access key is already in use, or already registered with the previous owner.
In short, here is the low-down of our experience at this sale.
- My hawing and hemming moment... to buy or not to buy a Coach handbag. I like the colour, I like the size, but it's not my style. But OMG, it's COACH!!! Eventually I passed. I don't covet brand names, just for the sake of the name. If I don't like the style, I'd never use it. I don't know who purchased it, but on our way out of the community, I noticed that all THREE Coach products were purchased (two purses and one clutch). Husband questions their authenticity. I don't think they were fake/imitation.
- My WTF I-want-to-punch-you moment: Somebody asked how much my baby cost. Granted, I had "parked" the stroller and him two feet away from me as I browsed at a table full of knick knacks. My back was turned, but it was for less than 10 seconds before Ugly-Old-Man made that comment. Really??? That question is not funny. I really wanted to knock him over for asking that question. And yes, I know I fail for parking the kiddo to the side while I browsed, but at this particular sale, there was no room to maneuver the stroller, and I was just two steps away from the kiddo. But I've learned my lesson - never again will I do that again.
- My holy-smokes, look-at-all-this stuff, moment: One home had approximately 60 to 80 toddler and baby shoes for sale. I was flabbergasted.
- Little B's cutest moment: After visiting a home with hand-made wood crafts, Bethy sighs and says "I'm boooring!" Hehe, super-cute.
And those are the highlights.
We really do love trying to find bargains on books, DVDs, CDs, and the odd unexpected find. We don't hunt around, nor are we avid garage sale shoppers, but when we see large community events like this, we will make the occasional visit. Most of the time, we come out with a few bargains.

Invest in myself
So I'm now needing to update my wardrobe. I had zero need to really update anything, for awhile. My soon-to-be ending job had me wearing jeans and a casual top. But now, I am needing interview clothes. So what is a girl to do? Shopping!!!
So what are my go-to places for interview clothes?? I have my usual places that I like to shop at, or at least browse, including H&M, Jacob, Banana Republic, Plum, The Bay or Sears... and basically anywhere that has a sale. Even Superstore/Joe Fresh might have an item or two that would be good to wear. All I really need are key pieces that I could use to dress up an outfit, and sadly, I don't really have dressy outfits anymore, as I've outgrown them in my mid-section, haha! (So sad, but oh-so true!!).
I'm looking forward to "investing in myself." When you feel and look good, others will react positively to you, and that's what I hope will happen when I start my interviews!!

Shoe Inventory
There are several shoes that I purchased a while ago, that no longer fit me.
In the case of this one pictured here, I bought it on sale for $35 a size too small. I needed a pair of flat shoes that would match my party dress, so even though it was too small, I decided to buy it anyway. :)
I like these shoes, they are very pretty, I think, only my toes get a bit squished in them. I tried to give it away to my twin sister but she doesn't quite fit them (they're too wide for her). So I'm saving these shoes for future garage sale. Maybe someone will want to pay $5 for them. If not, they'll go into the donation box. Hopefully someone will like them!

Baby Purchases
I found a baby-clothes store in the local mall that sold t-shirts and pants for $6 and $7 each!! What a steal!!
I was very conservative in buying for baby, since Daddy is always saying that the baby has enough clothes already (although I disagree). Baby can always use more clothes, especially in the size 3 months and up, range... She definitely can't wear newborn or 3months clothes anymore (she's growing out of 3 months clothes because she is so long)... But anyway, it's hard not to snatch up the good sales that come along, especially since baby clothes are so expensive!!
I also found another place for baby accessories! Baby headbands at the dollar store (at my local mall) are sold for $1 for 6 headbands!! I bought 12 headbands, but I think Baby might already be too big for 6 of the headbands... oh well!! I'll find some use for them... so for a total of $2 (excluding taxes) I now have 12 baby headbands! And even if I don't use them all, I can pass them on to any of my friends who will be having a baby girl...
...Oops gotta go... Baby is cooing in her crib, looking for attention!
