Afternoon Project: From Jumper to Pillowcase

While Kid B was pre-occupied with her afternoon videos, and while Kid N napped, I raided a box of old Kid clothes, and began an easy-peasy project.

I found a nice quilted rarely-worn jumper, and turned it into a pillow-case, for a cheapie pillow-form that I purchased from Ikea, a long while ago.

Here is the transformation:

This....

To this...

This pillow will be for Kid N, whom is now starting to appreciate the comfort of pillows when sleeping.  I'm betting that soon we may have to transform his crib into a toddler bed... because, well, he's started to climb out of his crib during naptimes!!  Yikes!

Bargain Bins

Bargain shopping is one of my favourite things to do.

Last weekend, I spent only $23 and purchased for my little girl a boardgame, 3 sets of flash cards, 2 dresses, 2 shirts, 2 books, and a camp chair.  The only thing I was really hoping to find, which I couldn't, were size 7 toddler shoes - not that she really needs them now, though.  But it would have been nice to find some toddler shoes for her next size up.

I love bargains, especially for baby/toddler/kids things.  Babies grow up so quickly, and you could easily be saving hundreds of dollars each year if you buy used, or take hand-me-downs.

My city holds a city-wide garage-day sale, where residents can register their home with the city and hold a sale on a specified day/weekend.  This is to help celebrate Earth Day, to promote the three R's - Reduce, Re-Use, and Recycle.  I love this day, and I'm looking forward to more bargains.  Like they say, one person's garbage is another person's treasure!  And who doesn't like to go treasure hunting??  :)

Baby Purchases

I found a baby-clothes store in the local mall that sold t-shirts and pants for $6 and $7 each!! What a steal!!

I was very conservative in buying for baby, since Daddy is always saying that the baby has enough clothes already (although I disagree). Baby can always use more clothes, especially in the size 3 months and up, range... She definitely can't wear newborn or 3months clothes anymore (she's growing out of 3 months clothes because she is so long)... But anyway, it's hard not to snatch up the good sales that come along, especially since baby clothes are so expensive!!

I also found another place for baby accessories! Baby headbands at the dollar store (at my local mall) are sold for $1 for 6 headbands!! I bought 12 headbands, but I think Baby might already be too big for 6 of the headbands... oh well!! I'll find some use for them... so for a total of $2 (excluding taxes) I now have 12 baby headbands! And even if I don't use them all, I can pass them on to any of my friends who will be having a baby girl...

...Oops gotta go... Baby is cooing in her crib, looking for attention!
