Halloween is not a Devil-worshipping holiday. It does not involve animal sacrifice. It is not a celebration of evil. But it does seem to bring the crazy (and fun) out of people. Sometimes... more crazy than fun... and in teenagers particularly, tons of crazy with no common sense... (think fireworks and firecrackers, vandalism, etc)...
This year will be a year of no handing out candy (the kids are coming, turn the lights off!!!). It's not that we mean to be Halloween poopers... It's only that the one year we handed out candy in our neighbourhood, and only 6 kids came to the door... 3 of which were teenagers. One giant box of candy, Halloween decor, and only 3 little kids, and 3 teenagers at the door... What disappointment.
This year with our little Tot, we will dress her up, wear silly hats, and visit the mall, and other family friendly Halloween events.
This weekend, I plan to start and finish her costume (yes, I still haven't started her costume). Hopefully it will turn out nicely, and if not, I'm sure it can be modified, so that it looks half-decent! I'm also planning Halloween crafts for the Tot; we can hang craft decorations around her play-area and room. She may not understand what Halloween is about, but she will have a bit of fun with her parents!
