Is anybody suffering from a post-fireworks/post-firecrackers headache? Maybe some sugar withdrawal??
Unlike many people I know, my neighbourhood last night was relatively quiet. No swarms of children walking down the sidewalk. No rowdy kids participating in hooliganism. Peeking out my closed blinds and curtains, at 7:30pm, then at 9pm... I saw only 4 kids at my neighbours door, and none walking down the sidewalk. I actually think that the kids just trick-or-treat mostly a block or two up or down from us, where there are more houses and closer to the school. But ah well, we probably won't be opening our doors for trick-or-treating until little B is ready to go trick-or-treating in the 'hood.
In the meantime, she will be enjoying the trick-or-treating time at the malls. And boy are the malls full of activity!!! Trick-or-treat time was between 4 and 5pm... we put B in her costume, and she ran about the mall, chasing kids, looking at all the people... We arrived at 4:30pm, and she ran about until 5:15pm. By the end of it, she found herself a perfectly good spot to sit (near another little boy), and plopped down... the little boy plopped down next to her. It was Friend-at-first-sight, hehe. We left the mall with B in good spirits, and costume not-so-intact, since, as she ran about the mall, she began to pick off her props... first her tin-foil pirate sword went to the ground, then the pirate bandana, and all that was left was her tattered pirate cloak. Oh, and the pirate eye-patch didn't even last 5 minutes at the mall... Yoink! Gone! Ah, maybe next year the costume will last a little longer.
Mommy and Daddy seemed to have a good day as well... I won 3rd place for the costume contest at work, and Daddy won 3rd place for the pumpkin carving contest. We may not be #1 winners, but at least we gave an effort and had fun in the process!
