In South Korea, there are now boot camps created for children who are addicted to the Internet. This is a huge problem in one of the most wired countries in the world.
The purpose of the boot camp is to help children learn to connect to the outside world, and to stimulate interactions with other kids, thus lessening their dependence on the Internet. One kid who was interviewed would skip school at least 2 days per week to catch up on sleep and to play games, and his average # of hours played in a day would be 17 hours. Not only does this type of behaviour affect his education and health, but also his social skills. If you have no "real-life" friends or experiences, you will not be able to function "normally" as an adult. After a few days at this camp, he's agreed that activities in real life can be fun as well, and he's suggested he would reduce his hours to 5 hours a day!
