It's been a month since I posted anything, and in that time, one of my sisters got married, Thanksgiving passed, and Halloween is just a few days away.
In personal news, Little N has one more tooth with another emerging (we think), and Husband has another (more desired) job which enables him to work from home. As a result, we are in the process of setting up a proper work-at-home office, and re-organizing all of our accumulated junk (which means we just re-organize and re-box, and place into another room). Having Husband work from home also means that the routine that I've set up for myself and the kids will now have to be tweaked to accommodate Daddy being home and not being at home (aka working in the office).
Overall, October has been a very good month to us. Positive and celebratory events within the family, fun activities with the kids, and awesome weather to accompany it all.
I'm currently preparing pumpkin seeds in the oven, waiting to prep some spaghetti squash, and will continue to re-organize our space throughout the day.
It should be a productive day!

Goodbye Hedges
Tomorrow our front hedges are going to be massacred. We'll be chopping them down as short as possible, so that we will be able to see the street from our windows. This is one step of several that will make our house less of a target for burglars. I wonder what it will look like? I think I will like it a lot... less work for hubby and me in the yard.
What will happen to the birds? Little birdies like to sit and hide in the bushes at our house. I hope none of them have nests in there, because then it will truly be bye-bye birdie!! 0.0
I wonder if Little B will notice the change to our yard... I think she will.
She has grown up so quickly, so much more aware of the world around her than before!!

Mommy's first day away...
...from Little B.
Today is my first day at work, and I'm sitting at my desk, on my lunch break wondering how Little B is. Does she miss me? Is she having a good day?
Her day away from her parents will only be a half-day, since Husband took a half-day off.
Tomorrow is B's First birthday party, and I'm quite excited. Husband will be cleaning and tidying a bit, and I'll have to start preparing some of the food tonight, after work.
The only thing about the house, though, is that we wanted to mow the lawn before the party, but it was raining all week, this week, so we'll have to leave it. The lawn is quite a mess, though. It will take some time for us to get it nice again.
In any case, her party will be both indoors and outdoors. We will be using our charcoal barbecue in the backyard, and setting up some seating both in and outside the house. It works out quite nicely since the weather will be very nice tomorrow!
Now back to work! :)

Blur
BLUR...
no not the rock band.
Tooooo much OT. 19.25 hours of OT from last week Monday and still counting. Sooo... counting a full 40 hour work week (for last week) plus 2 days this week of 16 hours... and adding all the OT... I've been reading/scanning/looking at pages and computer for a total of 75.25 hours (at least!!). This amount of time excludes the minutes that I spend on the computer at home, checking/replying to email and surfing the web. which thankfully has been 30 minutes or less, lately because my eyes are drying up into prunes. It's no surprise that one side of my face is a bit twitchy. :(
Anyway, apologies to my 2 regular readers, Jim and WGBC. You'll have to find your jollies elsewhere until my eyes recover and until there is no more OT.
How's about watching this, for your jollies instead? Darth Vader: The Musical

The Walls are Talking
For the past few months, the walls have been talking. What they are saying, I'm not too sure but it began with a slight groan from the pipes above the washroom. Perhaps the house has become exhausted from heating all our water. Maybe the house doesn't like that we've begun to neglect our cleaning duties and chores. I think the house began it's objections when we first started piling our clean laundry on the floor, leaving them unfolded until we ran out of other clothes. Week after week, and pile after pile we would do this, due to a sheer sense of laziness. I mean, what harm would a clean pile of laundry do, other than create an unsightly mess?
But then over time, the house has been making further objections. The noise from the pipes were the loudest last night. And this morning, it was our alarm clock, yelling at us to get out of bed, and never-mind that you can still sleep for another 10 minutes. I think the house was objecting to not only our pile of laundry, but to our unwashed dishes, and the strewn-about blankets on the floor which were kicked to the floor last night due to an unusually warm evening.
Tonight I may have to clean-house just to quiet the walls. Or better yet, just turn off it's voice with a hefty sledge-hammer. Darn house... can't you be quiet just for once?

Work, work!
Early morning
Moon is fading
Sun is rising
Eyes wide open
Coffee brewing
Traffic starting
Morning showers
Breakfast cooking
Bush your teeth
And pack your bags
Out the door
To start the day
Get to work
The day is young
Pushing paper
'Til the day is done
Back in traffic
In the gloaming
Sun is setting
Going home
And in the evening
The clock is slowed
Enjoying home
Enjoying home
Crawl into bed
The eyes are dreary
Sleep, overtake!
Good dreams for the weary.
