Splurging for Style

Sometimes you just need to spend in order to get the style or update that you want.

$50+ for a haircut?  $50+ for that top you just HAVE to have?  What about $90+ for that sweater dress?

Sometimes I wish a bowl-cut would just "cut" it, or that fabrics wouldn't stretch so much in the wash, or that $20 cotton shirt you bought last year wasn't so worn out - but there's a reason that the top was only $15, including taxes.

I'm really needing a hair cut now... that short-do I had is now a medium, and I loathe paying $50+ for that cut, but I know it's worth the price.  I've searched for the cheaper cut, in hopes that quality wouldn't suffer.  Unfortunately, something like that doesn't exist, at least not in the places that I've searched.  I've experienced terribly uneven haircuts, cuts so bad that people seeing you the next time, say nothing to you about the cut because there is nothing nice to say.  Cuts so bad, that I've sucked it up, and paid extra to get it fixed - by a different stylist, of course.  So a cut that I paid $40, ended up being $80+ because I had to get it done twice.

I'm still looking for a stylist, at least one that doesn't take 1 hour to get to via public transit.  I have a very good stylist, but she's a bit of a commute for me to get to.  I'm eyeing another hair salon, one that's gotten a few good reviews online, and one that's only 15 minutes away.  I think I will take the chance and get my cut there... maybe next week on a day when I'm feeling brave...

Until then, I'll just make-do with my scraggly hair...

Believe it or not, I only have my hair cut every single time I go back to China. This is REALLY cheap, right?
But I agree spend the money whatever you spent makes you happy.
