Marvel's Captain America was killed. sniff sniff...
To many it is a sign that the popularity of comic books is dangerously low. Captain America met mortal defeat to raise readership and interest in the world of comics. I wonder if this will work. Superman met his demise... then months later was brought back. Will this happen to Captain America?
The Rise of MMOs
The new entertainment for many is the rise of the massive multiplayer online games, or MMOs. World of Warcraft, being the most popular of MMOs. It is massively attractive to players, and massively attractive to game developers since all players need to pay a montly subscription rate to continue playing in the game. Will games such as these take the place of television? Oh wait, it already is beginning to take over... Everything, these days, needs to be wired - connected to the internet.
There are developers already trying to hybrid-ize tv and computers so that it is all in one system. I don't know how it would work. Sounds complicated and probably will have a high price tag. It will be interesting to see what will happen to humans over time, with the development of such technology.
The fall of us
I have a tendency to think that humans who become more and more reliant on technology will eventually lose most of the skills that our parents and grandparents once had. Gee, how do you sew, knit, build a bench, grow food, make a fire?
Already, our writing system is going the wayside of medieval ages. Spelling no longer counts, as people start texting messages and using any old way to spel wrds. Some universities and colleges are allowing students to text their homework assignments. Most teenagers can text faster than they can type or write. In the world of texting, there is no standard spelling - just as there was no standard spelling several hundred years ago. Shakespeare had many spellings of his name, and his proper spelling had to be guessed at and agreed to by researchers. Shakspaere, Sheakspear??

Captain America dead?? Oh well. I was never interested in Captain America anyway so his death in a fantasy world remains irrelevant to me. What? Am I supposed to care?
MMO's taking over as entertainment? Well, I'd say its more of interactive entertainment that's taking over.
People losing skills with advances in technology? Well, we learn other things, but yes...I've sadly forgotten how to knit something as simple as a blanket. My spelling and typing is fine though. I hate txt speech. English please.
Comic Book charaters never die. They either get ressurected by their creators or live on with the geeks and nerds who love them forever by saying their annoying catch phrases.... so Dont have a Cow Man!
As for the World of Warcraft watch the South Park episode on the subject of computer gamers and this gives you an idea of the kind of freaks who do this and get addicted. Hilarious. Still better than "Second-Life".. now that's F**ked up shit. How about trying a "First-Life" loser.
Hybrid-ized system. Keeping TV non-interactive is a good thing cuz' that's what makes it different from the Internet. It's nice to watch something without some idiot making commentary on it. Yes I'm talking to you movie directors. Now that I have missed the boat on what you are talking about I will continue and say that humans will get fatter and lazier and more dependent on technology until it does all the thinking for us. War 1984.
War using a calculator to add up 2 single digit numbers.
War fingers so fat that they have to make larger keyboards and punchkeys to type on.
War China knowing and us forgetting how to sew, knit, grow food, etc.... no wait that happened about 20 years ago.
Finally how do you splll spell?
