Snow-ow OW!

OW!!!

Yep. Ow. I have semi-frost bitten fingers. And I don't just mean that they are cold. 2 of my fingers actually swelled at the finger-tips, and got a little hard. This was in the morn. And while there is no more swelling, it's still numb. Apparently the numbness sensation should go away by tomorrow. Well, let's certainly hope so! I definitely need a better pair of gloves!

So how did this happen? This morning, I had the smart idea of waking up early, and getting the snow off my car - so that it wouldn't freeze - just in case I needed it in the next day or two in case of emergencies. So I donned on my winter clothes - including gloves - and began my snow-clearing duties.

I think what did it to me was that, at first, I couldn't find the door handle, so I had to use my hands to clear some snow, and try to open the door. TRY, being the operative word, because the door was frozen shut.

Then try the other door, and finally the third door opened - after I used my gloved fingers to pick and scrape some ice off. Why did I use gloved fingers?? I didn't have any snow-removing tools (ice-scraper) to help me since it was inside my FROZEN car.

In any case, I un-buried my car with the ice-scraper and brush tool to a somewhat satisfactory state. After about 20 minutes or so, of picking and scraping at ice, and brushing snow off my car, I gave up. I really wouldn't be driving, anyway, unless I absolutely HAD to. Still, I just wanted to be able to SEE my car, and not have the snow turn to ice, and then having it weigh heavily on the darned thing.

I went back into the house, took my gloves off, and wondered why the heck my fingers felt so funny. Well... two of my fingertips were swollen. Thank goodness, they weren't discoloured - just unusually funny shaped, and cold...

In any case, 12 hours later, and there's a small bit of numbness still, but no swelling. It's supposed to go away, so says my doc. And if it doesn't, then I should go in and see her. Well, I guess that's my ice-capade for the year, and hopefully it will be the last...
