Career and Travel

Career
Decisions decisions... I've been somewhat scanning job boards to see what else is out there. I've found something that has potential. So question is do I want to apply to it, and eventually leave the comfort (security) of my job where I get a pension, good benefits, decent pay, and 8 hour work day, OR do I want to go somewhere completely different (private sector), hours are not necessarily 9 to 5?? Hmmm... My workplace truly is a trap - it's soooo comforting knowing that I get such decent benefits... Well, perhaps I'll apply because it doesn't necessarily mean I'll get offered the job anyway...

Travel
I applied for an Air Miles card. Now I can rack up points for my travelling aspirations. My co-worker told me about a volunteer program that will send you abroad (although you pay for it yourself), and you volunteer to work on social programs, teaching English, construction etc.. I wouldn't mind doing it, and I'm sure I can find a way to raise some funds for it... Some volunteer abroad programs that I've looked at are for the Canadian Red Cross, and now I found this other program... Am I suited to spend 8 weeks in Ghana, or Peru, or some other country in which I'll be living in the rural areas?? Well, perhaps 8 weeks in a foreign country isn't as bad as being away for 1 year teaching English overseas... and I'll actually be contributing to the social welfare of the country! Hmmm, so many things to think about. Will I chicken out like I normally do?? I guess time will tell...
