The World is Crazy...

... leave a post if you disagree.

Well, parts of the world are crazy. There are a good number of sane people out there.

The Issue: To teach or not to teach? Evolution or Creationism (or should I say "Intelligent Design").
Crazy: trying to introduce "Intelligent Design" into school systems - a disguised version of Creationism.
Sane: A judge in Pennsylvania decides it is unconstitutional to teach Intelligent Design in the public school system.

The Issue: Canada bashes US, US bashes Canada
Sane: Canada's PM makes critical remarks about US's softwood lumber policies and penalties. He also criticizes US's flip-flopping and lack of commitment on the Kyoto protocol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They are one of the world's largest producers of such emissions.
Crazy: A MSNBC host, a well-known conservative has called Canada "America's retarded cousin". A Fox News host suggested Canada could possibly become an enemy, one that harbours terrorists. Apparently Canada has grown "too big for it's britches." We have too many opnions of the US, and they don't like that. So what's so crazy about all of this? Canada provides some truthful criticism. The US Conservatives do not like what they hear (although they know it's the truth), so they resort to name calling and belittling. How mature. And oh yes, it's reported that the US Administration "are turned to Fox News". I guess that doesn't say too much of the US Administration, does it, because Fox News really ain't news!

The Issue: Quebec Separatism.
Crazy: Fanatic Separatists and Language Police. What a militaristic province Quebec is - making sure that French signs are 3 times larger than the English signs, and closing businesses without adequate French signage. If the rest of the provinces had laws like that - English signs must be 3 times larger than any other language, the world would frown on us - we'd be infringing on people's freedoms. Imagine that in Vancouver, where most of everyone here comes from a different background. What would Chinatown become? Canada would be a haven for Supremacists.
Sane: Those who know exactly what voting for Bloc Quebecois would mean for the country - voting for the Bloc would mean voting to split apart Canada. And btw, didn't the English defeat the French on the Plains of Abraham hundreds of years ago? Wasn't that the decisive battle, in which the French were defeated?

Oh, and pet peeve!!
I was reading an article from an online news site. The reporter was discussing Canadian politics. He spelled cabinet, as in a cabinet minister, as "cabinat". Is it me, or do people no longer know how to spell properly anymore??

Anyway, everyone is crazy.
