I wonder what reputation Stanley Park has in the international community?
In the last few years, we've heard in the news of attacks in Stanley Park. Our German practicant asked me if it was safe to walk in the park alone. I found the question surprising since I've never really considered Stanley Park a safety "issue". He's visited the park since asking me the question though, and he quite enjoyed it, although he was a little disappointed with the totem poles. He expected much more.
It's interesting to hear what people of different nationalities think of Canada, and know of Canada. What stereotypes exist of Canadians? What expectations and prejudices do people have? In some ways, the practicant has been both wowed and disappointed by some of his experiences here.
