Post-Partum Fitness

Last weekend, I began my post-partum fitness routine.  As much walking as I can muster when I am out and about, and my favourite aerobics DVD.  Ideally, I should be doing Pilates, as it's the best form of exercise for my hip, and for the core, but I love this particular aerobics DVD.  It has cardio and strength training, and the energy is high (with low-impact options) that make me feel the burn.

I began the workout on Friday, and curious Little B (who loves watching TV) came creeping down the stairs to see Mommy bouncing around and moving all about in the basement living room.  At first, she decided to only watch.  Then, she began to jump around too, although rather un-coordinated.  She decided to lay down on my exercise mat while I made efforts to avoid stepping on her, and she even worked the weight training exercises by grabbing our TV remotes and using them as her own personal weights.  I was so amused, I had to ask Daddy to take videos of her doing this.  I only hope the videos turned out okay.

In any case, I am making more of a push to get fit and healthy again.  In my head, I'd like to sign up for the Vancouver Sun Run again, like I did several years ago, but I doubt I will be able to do it this year.  I also would like to slim down as much as possible in the next week or two, since my drivers license is expiring, and I would LOVE to report that I am at least five pounds lighter than I am now (which I am likely to do, whether I actually reach this goal or not).  Mostly, I would like to slim down this post-partum pouchy-tummy that I've been carrying around since January 1.  With my last pregnancy it took about 9 months to lose the pouch, and it will probably take another 9 months to lose it this time, too.  It's just unfortunate that I need to renew my license so quickly after having my baby, since I know that my weight now, will be at least 5 to 10 pounds less in 6 to 9 months.  Nobody likes to admit their weight gain, especially new moms, and I definitely do not want to admit it on my drivers license, which I'm likely to have for another 10 years or so.

haha, it is so entertaining to read this blog. I am surprised how fast you are moving! I don't think I did any kind of exercises after birthing. But I only gained 26-27 lbs last time. This time, I've already packed more than this! So I am worried I may need exercise soon.
Another recommendation, when taking photos at ICBC, they usually ASK you(not weighing you) how much you weigh. It is no harm to tell a white lie, just minus 3-5 lbs that will make you look good with the new license. They would not doubt whether you are giving them a very accurate number. I did that when i was a bit over-weight back to 10 years ago. haha!
