The Daycare Baby gets sick more often than the at-home baby. She will have more colds, more fevers, more childhood illnesses, but in the long run, hopefully her immune system will be strong.
Little B acquired Hand Foot Mouth Disease from a little Daycare Friend. It is not a pleasant illness. Sores in the mouth, blisters all over her extremities... She was definitely not a happy camper, especially during the weekend (or first several days of her illness).
I hope the illness does not spread too far into the daycare.
BLAME
Some people pass on blame for an illness on other people - in this case other toddlers and parents. First of all, no one wants their own child to be sick, let alone the children of others. Not everyone is as observant with their children, as we would all like. Little spots could come from an allergy, sore throats can only be articulated if the child knows her words. We do not blame daycare, nor do we blame the other child or parents. Perhaps other daycare kids and parents could blame us. That is fine with us, but honestly the blame does not belong on anyone.
RECOVERY
She is better now... still has blisters on her but she is in better spirits. We are now just waiting for her spots/blisters to heal-up. Both Mommy and Daddy are relieved that the worst of it did not last long, and that it's near the end.
