Formulating the Black Hole

I was watching a documentary on PBS about Jesuit Priests who are astronomers, astro-physicists, and in one word, scientists. It was interesting to watch because, apparently, the Vatican has the largest and oldest collection of meteorites on the planet. These are very well catalogued, and well preserved/protected. Apparently there is a college set up in the Vatican, sponsored by the Vatican, that teaches astronomy. All the instructors are priests, and in no way are they allowed, nor do they preach religion in their classrooms (although it seems that they will debate it if challenged). Their students come from all walks of life - atheists and non-atheists alike. There are also Jesuit priests teaching astro-physics in the US. These men all have PhD's in the field.

So how does science inter-mingle with religion? These Jesuit priest-scientists came to the conclusion that God created life by accident. That it was chemistry and physics that God was working on to create stars, planets, and galaxies (does this mean that God in a sense, was a scientist too??). And during the process of exploding and imploding stars, gravity, electricity, etc., life was created. These Jesuit priest-scientists believe that you can only understand the universe by studying it. Study the smaller bits of the universe, ie., the moons, etc., and then understand the rest of it. By doing so, you will understand God better, and you will appreciate his work even more. By becoming a scientist and studying the universe, their faith has only grown.

These Jesuit priest-scientists are interesting, because they reflected on how Galileo was treated by the Church. Galileo was a devout Catholic-astronomer. Galileo still kept his faith in his dying days, even though the Church arrested and convicted him with heresy. The Jesuit priest-scientists agree that the Church, like every human being, makes mistakes, and that condemning Galileo was one of them (although the Vatican would never admit to that).

I am intrigued at how a priest can become a scientist with the understanding and backing of the Vatican, while at the same time the Vatican is arguing against Evolution and science, in general. If these handful of Jesuit priests can reconcile religion with science, why can't the Vatican's official stance be to recognize Science?

The black hole was predicted by a series of complex equations, even before any human being discovered that black holes existed. Perhaps someone can solve the equation for God, and prove it's existence.

I thought that Priests were into Anthropology... the study of Man. Well maybe young boys. haha dark.

Seriously though it's nice to see that at least they believe in Astronomy and are willing to bring in people from all walks of life into their college while not pumping religious nonsense into students heads.

So God created life by accident? Explains why most of the people on this planet are screwed up. Kind of like people from small towns... like Trail.... kidding.

This is a very interesting spin... oops I mean theory that Jesuit Priests have. At least it strengthens their faith and I guess that's a good thing?

Another part of these people I can respect is the fact that the church makes mistakes. Makes sense considering it's run by humans who I established earlier are fucked up.

Good question about the Vatican? Why cant they do anything right?
Why do they oppress any new ideas when it comes to science while JPS's dont? Who knows? Maybe the Pope Nazi doesnt like change? Maybe... MAYBE.... sadly that's a fact.

The following is the stuberry god equation:

A) God = Control of the ignorant masses by their leaders.

B) God = People who messed up their lives so badly that they need something to get them on the straight and narrow. These people are alright unless they are too preachy and converty... yes I'm talking to you Born Again Xtains.

C) God = People who had parents who raised them a certain religion and were not smart enough to realize that it was a fairy tale in their later years. Isnt relgion kind of like the Easter Bunny, Santa or Eskimos... i think they were fake.. haha, I mean dont you grow out of it when common sense kicks in at lets say age 12... oh well. wgbc is out
