Science Fiction

#1

On a platform, in the middle of nowhere the remainder of us limp, run, flee to safety. Some of us call for help on the radio, hoping against all odds that someone will hear our message. We're in trouble. We are abandoning ship. Please help us. And around us, things start to fall apart, but there is a reply, less than 15 seconds later. Someone is out there, and they are coming for us. But we know who they are. They aren't friendly but we know how to prepare ourselves.

With blasts, and groans of a failing craft, someone becomes engulfed in light, a glow of power emanating within themselves, and a twin appears before her. A younger version. Both are alive and confused, but there is no time to wonder what might have happened - how a clone was created by the body's internal energy. We are all experiments, after all, and strangely enough, we all felt that this was not an abnormal event. In fact, we all felt that whatever just happened would help us.

In collective thought, we gather weapons and hide - readying ourselves for our saviours and would-be captors.

When they arrive, blasts are fired, and it's everyone for themselves.

It was a long battle, and we are now on the run. Or in hiding, on a scrap of metal floating in space. We know our time is limited, for if we don't clone, we die. If we don't clone, like the first one, the eggs will hatch inside us and the monster inside will burst from the warm organic shell that now houses it.

We all killed in the last battle, and the horrors of killing do not compare to the horror that awaits us, should the monster hatch. We are terrified.

#3

We are inside a craft, and some of us are in holding cells. The ones who remain free, remain hidden. We coordinate and attempt to make rescues. We do not hesitate to kill, if we must

#4

We are offered help, a cure. But it is no cure. They want the monster inside, and battle wages on.

#5

Overwhelmingly, we are sad, fearful, and angry. We float in space, hoping to find a way, to help ourselves.
